Better late than never...  The unemployed South Carolina Senatorial candidate who surprised the world and probably even himself by winning the state's primary a few weeks back gets... drumroll, and go figure.. a website.

Angry GOP in WV(0)

Soon after the passing of Sen. Robert C. Byrd (D-W.V.) on Monday, West Virginia Secretary of State Nathalie Tennant  announced that there would not be a special election to fill his empty Senate seat, saying that state laws demands candidates file before the primary election, which has already passed. That means Democratic Gov. Joe Manchin can appoint a successor to serve out the remainder of the Sen. Byrd's six year term which doesn´t end until after the 2012 election. The state's Republican party is said to be fuming and looking for a legal way to fight back.

Former vice president Richard B. Cheney is in George Washington University Hospital this weekend after being admitted Friday. The fear is that Cheney could be having another heart attack. For anyone keeping count, it would be the 69-year-old's sixth. He had his first one at 37.

Democrats in the Senate failed yesterday to pass a bill that would have provided financially troubled states a needed shot of cash while extending emergency unemployment benefits to millions of Americans who've lost their job during the recession. The measure failed with a 57 to 41 vote, with Republicans complaining that the measure would deepen budgetary problems.

McChrystal v. Obama(0)

Gen. Stanley McChrystal, the U.S. military's top commander in Afghanistan, is in hot water for criticizing White House officials to a writer from Rolling Stone magazine. President Obama has yet to decide whether or not to fire McChrystal, whose reported comments reveal serious fractures in U.S. military policy that's driving the nine-year-old war. McChrystal is said to be extremely frustrated with Mr. Obama's handling of things.
