Join Us- Be An Ass

Submitted by BetterDonkey on January 17, 2005 - 7:34pm.

We want to kick progressive politics into action! Join Better Donkey and be a part of a team of young people who want to affect positive progressive change in and around Seattle ...and we want to have fun doing it.

  • Sign up on our site, and we will let you know when we plan fun stuff… be it party or protest.
  • Check out our Blog and participate in the ongoing shit slinging straight from the donkeys’ mouths.
  • Spread the word to your buddies about Better Donkey so they too can be an ass in Seattle.
  • Donate to Better Donkey… if for some reason you deem us worthy of your beer money, by all means feel free. We appreciate any donations that can help us put together fun events that get the blood pumping once again into the politically numb residents of this fine city.

Past Events

Capitol Hill Block Party

We teamed up with Music for America and registered voters at the Capitol Hill Block Party. Lots of people, good food, plenty of beer, and music. What more could you want? http://www.musicforamerica.org/

Bite of Seattle/Central District Community Festival GOTV!

At the last minute a bunch of us got together and registered voters at the Bite of Seattle and Central District Community Festival.

Road trip to Portland

About 20 of us caravanned down to Portland twice to work with America Coming Together. It was a huge success! We registered over 150 new voters in the always important swing state of Oregon and made some great friends at ACT. http://www.americavotes.org/

Kegger for Democracy

We teamed up with Music For America and threw two kick-ass keg parties. We made sure all of our friends and their friends were registered to vote, recruited some new volunteers, talked politics and drank a lot of Busch Beer.

Pub Crawl for Democracy

Who says voter registration has to be hard work? One thing we learned was that sometimes the best way to accomplish what we want is to go straight to our peers so we decided to go bar to bar resistering voters and sharing stories over many pints!

Recap: 1000 voters registered in the Central District

Saturday May 8 was a huge success. Working with ACORN, America Votes, USAction, and of course MoveOn, we walked a precint in the Central District. We knocked on doors, we started conversations, and we registered a thousand new voters. Even those of us who had never done it before had a great time.

Next Step (the old BetterDonkey) Postering

Next Step used and abused our artistically talented friends and created some provocative posters to spread the word about our new group. 20 volunteers put up 1000 posters in the Central District, Capitol Hill, Queen Anne, Belltown, Wallingford, and Fremont.
