Blue Velvet and Inflatable Penises - oh my!
Riisa and Amy are at it again! After a Movie Night of Infinite Radness at the Rendezvous, these two BetterDonkey lovelies sat down to recap the movie, reveal their fetishes, and speculate on what BetterDonkey has in store for all our fabulous friends.
Riisa: I felt like such a movie star when we walked into the Jewel Box Theatre at the Rendezvous. They really pulled out the red carpet to make our First Ever Better Donkey Movie Night super special! I love sitting on anything that is blue velvet. Is that a fetish? I don't care.
I always love our events Amy. Why? Because they give me time to socialize like a butterfly. It makes all this business worthwhile. It was great to just to sit back and relax, sip on a cocktail, enjoy the ambiance and shoot the shit with all of our fabulous members.
Amy: Oooh and don't you just love the name Jewel Box? It's so sparkly!!
Speaking of sparkly, you are totally totally right-- as fun as it is to get out there and DO something, it's so nice just to kick back with friends and watch a hilarious inflatable penis movie.
I've gotta say Riisa, of all the inflatable penis movies I've watched, "The Yes Men" was *definitely* the best. It was so inspirational to see the awesome stuff those guys did... and they were just a couple of guys, you know? We are *so* capable of being that awesome!
Riisa: I know! I was all "ants in my pants" with creative energy all night long! *Sorry* to those sitting next to me (CJ) I just couldn’t sit still. And I really want to keep that momentum going... the excitement part, not the pants part... chafing. Ouch.
And you know what else? The Yes Men got their friends involved. One thing that I've learned in all my community organizing *biznatch* is that its really important to encourage people to do what they are already really good at. You know? The guy who made that gold suit - he was rad - and he loved using his skills to contribute to the project. I just want to say if there is any one out there who wants to use their talents, be it graphic design, break dancing or cooking (I like brownies).... to make this Donkey better, please let us know. I heart art.
Amy: I think getting our friends involved is the most important part! The support that the Yes Men got from their friends is so what got the job done. Better Donkey is nothing without its members. For reals.
So-- little secret here-- I was *totally floored* by the number of people who were sweet enough to donate some of their hard-earned cash at the door. I mean, it's exciting enough just to see everyone who came out... but all of that generosity?? It was *so* tinkle in my pants time. >sighRiisa: We certainly have some generous friendlies. Some day when we are privately funded by some anonymous famous couple (Bill and Hilary...or Nick and Jessica) we will have lots of free beer and movies for everyone! But until that certain day, I hope everyone knows that their donations will come straight back to smack them on the ass (or was that me?) at the next BetterDonkey event!
Speaking of the next BetterDonkey event...what have we got cookin' Amy?
Amy: What *don’t* we have cookin’?!! Besides all the ass-smackin’ (personally, I blame Chris), on the front burner we’re fryin’ up a Kegger for Kids, and on the back burner we’ve got a big pot of Bruno and the Professor radio re-launch simmering away. No buns in the oven, but I know we can throw another movie night in the microwave any old time. Mmm! BetterDonkey is yummy in my tummy.
