Deep Throat Revealed! Nation is shocked! Fox News... eh, not so much.

Submitted by grant on May 31, 2005 - 6:10pm.

The greatest mystery in the last half of the 20th Century was solved today. The Washington Post has confirmed that the upcoming Vanity Fair report stating Deep Throat was Mark Felt, former 2nd in command at the FBI, is true. (Slate actually predicted Felt was Deep Throat years ago).

Pretty big news, right? The greatest political mystery of all time has been solved. In this era of 24 hour cable news networks, programming should be all Deep Throat for at least a week, right?

MSNBC's Scarbrough Country lead with it! CNN Newsnight dedicated most of the show to it! Chris Matthew Hardball'd the hell out of the story on MSNBC!

Hannity and Colmes will totally talk about it... right? Let's take a look at what they'll be talking about tonight:

Watch "Hannity & Colmes" weeknights at 9 p.m. ET!

Here's just some of what we've got planned for you tonight:

A new poll from the Gallup organization finds 53% of Americans either "very likely" or "somewhat likely" to vote for Hillary Clinton for president in 2008. What's going on here? Could Hillary Clinton (search) be our next president?!

We'll get reaction from FNC political analyst and former Clinton adviser Dick Morris.

Plus, why do some kids become killers at such a young age? In the wake of the fatal stabbing of an 11-year-old by a 9-year-old this weekend in New York City we'll talk with two experts: criminologist Jack Levin and clinical psychologist Jeffrey Gardere.

Also, President Bush responds to Amnesty International's charge that the detention center at Guantanamo Bay is no better than Stalin's Gulags... We'll tell you what he said.

And later, has the one of the oldest mysteries in the history of journalism finally been solved? Do we finally know the identity of "Deep Throat"?

Really... item number four? Behind bashing Hillary and 9-year-old killers? One of the nations biggest stories in history, perhaps the most "Fair and Balanced" journalism done in history is #4 on your list of topics tonight?

Well, certainly Fox's On The Record with Greta Van Susteren will talk about Deep Throat, right? I mean, the promos for her show I just saw stated that she's "Investigating the real stories". Her show is all about legal matters, and certainly Deep Throat brings up some serious legal discussion, right?

Wow, she's probably really excited about Deep Throat! Let's see what she's going to talk about

(all PST)
7:00pm-7:30pm The Michael Jackson
7:35pm: uh.. still on Michael Jackson
7:45pm: Michael Jackson!?!?! Really? I give up

(note: 10 seconds of a news update told the viewers of Fox that the Washington Post is confirming the Deep Throat story)

So, journalism's most shinning moment in history doesn't make the cut at Fair and Balanced Fox, eh?

Why not? Is it that fact that Deep Throat took down a crooked Republican President who lied to the American Public?

Nah... it's just not that big of a story compared to Jacko and trying to scare your base (ooohh... I mean "viewership") into believing that Hillary might be president someday.

A toast... to selective memory!

I was hoping somebody was going to comment, this is a pretty moment in time =). I knew I couldn't do it justice but I'm very glad you did. Nice frame up, comical but to the point...a 9 my man, a 9.

I just saw a bumper sticker yesterday. It said, I never thought I'd miss Nixon.

My response when I heard: "oh, that's interesting". Then I went back to what I was doing.

It's an important story, but not deserving of urgent treatment. Given how long ago it was I don't think it deserved all the Page 1 treatment it got. There are far more urgent stories getting less exposure.

sorry, i still don't miss regan. nothing will ever make me miss him. actually, as a child i liked him (hey, i was 9 when he left office). as an educated adult, i learned that he was the worst president in modern history.

regan did more to destroy this country than bush has (yet). the only thing bush could do to top him is prevail in destroying (or "privitizing") social security. until then, regan is top dog in terms of awfulness for this country... followed closely by dubya. and trailing in at a close third is andrew jackson.
