Recess!

So I'm still held a wee bit speechless by yesterdays events so I decided to blow off some steam with a break of sorts. If you're feeling rather overwhelmed by yesterdays news or generally just all the crap...come on in and talk about whatever seems good to you.

Let's just call yesterday an invitation to fill a bowl with cush and pass it around a circle of those you love.

Today let's play with this headline from the Washington Post:

Meth Abuse Cited as Top Drug Problem for Law Enforcement Agencies Increase in Arrests Has Taxed Other County Departments; White House Says Marijuana Is Still No. 1 Woe

I guess what bugs me most about this is that, yes...a whole shit load of Americans smoke weed...this is an obvious reason why the drug probably shouldn't be illegal among many others but marijuana doesn't make you a tweaker with acne, rotting teeth, and unpredictable behavior.

It's like saying that Ebola isn't a problem until it's as big a pandemic as Herpes.

I gotta problem with that and so do other people.

Would it be so risky for the democrats to embrace an initiative to legalize weed, possibly even taxing it (even though most would certainly just grow it and I personally think sin taxes are evil)?

There is certainly plenty of research to indicate the reasons weed were made illegal are largely unfounded and it really isn't much more than a plant anyway...

Shouldn't it be classed as an herbal supplement rather than say...a drug that not only puts you in prison but also puts makers of pipes or bongs in prison?

Perhaps a fun campaign issue for the progressives and democrats would be to embrace this issue now. I'm kinda curious, based on morals or whatever, what people think about the issue. I'd poll but most of you probably wouldn't vote.

Let's play nice together...unless Felix get's after me for my impractical ideas or whatever but talk about this or whatever but let's just chat for a bit about something fun.

The drug war cracks my ass up. Holding a stoner at gunpoint is the most ridiculous fucking ball-grabbing-cop-cartoon ever. And I got really offended after we invaded Afghanistan and the Partnership for a Drug Free America ran all those ads about how our national pot habit was supporting terrorism. Total load of crap. Our national coke habit supports terrorism (not a little of it DEA-perpetrated) in South America; meth supports acts of terror against rural environments and the tiny abused children who often live in the homes of meth makers; and heroin? Duh, it's poppies they grow in Afghanistan.

I also hate the classism that's a part of all of this-- and of course the racism-- if you can afford one of those high-class dealers who sends an enormous bag of weed to your condo via courier, then you'll never get caught. Poor? Black? Enjoy your orange jumpsuit.

The downside of legal marijuana is taxes, of course (and yes, sin taxes are total bullshit), but the upside is not ever again having to hear your friend tell a story about how they smoked pot that they didn't know until later was laced with speed and then had a seizure and it was really scary and they almost died. Etc. Some regulations aren't so bad.

Problem with getting Congress (in a liberal dreamworld) to do anything about this is that there's a surprisingly large population out there who says "Drugs are bad!" and does not realize they are telling a hilarious, over-generalized joke.

I totally agree that marijuana should be legalized, but the weird obsession stoners have with pot is kind of scary.

I know you're just a troll but none the less, I clearly pointed out this would be fluffer and as space goes the post took very little space. Frankly besides your cache, the space on the server, and transmission there is really very little space taken up by the post. Asshole.
