How Low Can You Go?

Wow. I'm just stunned. If you haven't heard yet, you'll hear soon enough. Dubya's approval rating has dropped. Not just the usual drop, they've hit the elusive Watergate zone.

According to the American Research Group we're finally waking up. ARG found in their latest poll that 58% disapprove of the way Dubya is handling his job. Meanwhile, the remaining 36% are either:

  • Willfully Ignorant
  • North Pole Scientists, unable to get news
  • Avid Fox News Fans!
  • Strong supporters of the right to life (minus those living in Iraq)
  • Zell Miller

From ARG: George W. Bush's overall job approval ratings have dropped from a month ago even as Americans who approve of the way Bush is handling his job as president are turning more optimistic about their personal financial situations according to the latest survey from the American Research Group. Among all Americans, 36% approve of the way Bush is handling his job as president and 58% disapprove. When it comes to Bush's handling of the economy, 33% approve and 62% disapprove.

Can someone say Orange Alert?

how far down do they have to go before action is taken, and what action can we take? There's no way we can get articles of impeachment done with a repug majority in congress, so how can we get the dems hot to take over seats and get it done in 2008? Further, if we do impeach, who's going to take over?

In 1973, with Watergate at full blast, Richard Nixon had the support of 39% of the American People.

Right now, George Bush has 3% less support. This is what we call, in the reality-based-community, a failed presidency.

as an idea who's time has come. I think that the time has come for the idea that the Religious Right don't represent the values of the majority of religious people, whatever your stripe. The question to my mind is how will the Democrats talk about these issues over the next two years? Will we let them push us around when it comes to issues of faith and values or will we continue to talk ourselves into a corner where if there wasn't a "D" behind our name you'd have no clue what we might stand for.

This is the time for a coherent message. This is the time to start to act like the back-benchers in Parliament and talk about a Democratic agenda where we are active, not passive about how this would all look different with a Democratic Congress and a Democratic Administration. I fear if we don't start to do this, loudly, persistantly, persuasively, we'll come to next November with a slim majority saying its better to go with the devil you know. I feel the wind shift, I fear we have no sails.

i couldn't have said it better

"I feel the wind shift, I fear we have no sails."

The ball is in our court. Lets see if we can actually grab it this time.
